Serial production of the new GMC Hummer EV will begin at General Motor's plant in Detroit. Accordingly, the plant will be the first specialized division of the company to start assembling electric cars. It is tentatively known that the company will invest 2.2 billion US dollars to equip the enterprise. About 800 million will be additionally allocated for the re-equipment of the assembly workshop and the painting workshop for electric vehicles. The official start of sales of the new GMC Hummer EV can be expected at the end of 2021, as a 2022 model. The manufacturer does not exclude that not only an electric pickup truck, but also an electric SUV will be released under the Hummer name.
