Back in 1976, on the basis of the 911 model, Porsche engineers developed the Porsche 935 racing coupe, designed specifically for participation in Group 5 races. Two years later, the company prepared an extreme version of the 935, which, due to the elongated shape of the stern, was nicknamed "Moby Dick". In the same year, the management of Porsche decided to close the racing car training area, as a result of which all work and modifications to the car were discontinued.

And at the end of 2018, as part of the sporting event "Rennsrt Réunion VI", the Germans demonstrated a new club racing coupe Porsche 935, which is the ideological successor to the 935 model of the late 70s of the last century.

The car received a spectacular exterior, which reveals details and stylistic solutions, both modern and classic models of the company.

The appearance of the new Porsche

The new Porsche 935 has a striking and frankly sporty appearance.

"Muzzle" of the racing coupe is represented by compact head optics, massive air intakes located on the hood, and a powerful front bumper, complemented by a racing splitter.

New items in the profile Porsche's signature proportions are instantly recognizable, with curvaceous wheel arches and stylish aerodynamic rims painted in bright red that deserve special attention.

Car feed flaunts formidable side lights, an impressive spoiler, as well as a massive rear bumper with pronounced aerodynamic elements, large sections of air ducts and a pair of exhaust system trunks.

The outer dimensions of the compartment have the following parameters:

Length, mm4865
Width, mm2034
Height, mm1359
Wheel base, mm2457
Ground clearance, mmabout 100-120

But the manufacturer decided not to disclose such a parameter as the height of the ground clearance - however, it can be seen with the naked eye that it fluctuates (see the table) within the range of 100-120 mm.

Porsche 935 interior design

The interior of the new Porsche 935 features a spartan interior, most of which, including the roll cage, migrated here from the production Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

In front of the pilot is a racing wheel, as well as a modern instrument cluster with a pair of small analog dials and a large LCD display. In the central part of the front dashboard there are several auxiliary buttons and an air conditioning control unit.

At the disposal of the driver - sports chair with integrated headrest, 4-point seat belts and excellent lateral support. As an option, an additional right-hand front passenger seat can be installed in the cabin.
The volume of the trunk, as well as its availability, remains unknown.

Specifications Porsche 935 2019

The Porsche 935 is equipped with a 3.8-liter turbo-petrol V6 that generates an impressive 700 hp. This engine is borrowed from the same Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

The motor is coupled with an uncontested 7-speed "robot" РDК, which has a rigid mount and is equipped with a powerful active oil cooling system. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not announce the exact dynamic and consumer characteristics of the car (maximum speed, acceleration from 0 to 100, fuel consumption, etc.).

In comparison with the "donor", which is the GT2 RS, the 935 is 90 kg lighter (1380 kg versus 1470 kg). For braking the "car" are ventilated steel brake discs with a diameter of 380 and 355 mm and equipped with six-piston and 4-piston calipers on the front and rear axles, respectively.

For comparison, the GT2 RS features carbon ceramic brakes with a diameter of 410 and 390 mm.

The safety of the new Porsche 935

It is known that the car body frame is made of steel and "winged" metal, while the outer panels are made of carbon fiber in order to reduce the total weight.

In addition, a special frame is preinstalled in the cabin to protect the pilot from damage during a collision.

It is easy to assume that the coupe is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, traction control and other driver assistance systems, but the manufacturer decided to keep their exact list secret.

2019 Porsche 935 price and equipment

The manufacturer does not hide that the 2019 Porsche 935 is not intended for use on public roads, but at the same time it does not have any kind of homologation for any kind of racing. It is also known that a total of 77 copies of the model will be produced, and the minimum price for a sports car will be 702 thousand euros.

The first batch of Porsche 935 is expected to be delivered to future owners in June 2019, then, most likely, the list of proposed equipment will become known.

Conclusion

The Porsche 935 is the reincarnation of the legendary 1976 935/78, better known as the Moby Dick, which, despite the possibility of participating in club races and driving on closed race tracks, is more suitable for the role of a collector's car.
