Audi will no longer develop new ICEs. The reasons for the termination of the development of engines, the further fate of the internal combustion engine, the new Euro standard.

As it became known, the well-known Audi company announced the termination of the development of new internal combustion engines. This information will apply to both gasoline and diesel units. Accordingly, there is nothing new in the near future will not be presented to buyers. In the future, Audi will refine the existing engine and carry out work on improvement.

The reason for such a loud statement was a whole chain of events. First, there is a well-known diesel scandal over diesel engines. Secondly, the adoption of new laws on the introduction of the Euro-7 standard. According to various sources, the standard will be introduced in 2025, and until that time all requirements must be met. It is reliably known that the adaptation of existing units to the standards of the standard will entail not only financial costs, but also a lot of time.

This is not profitable from an economic point of view for the Audi company, especially since the existing engine is installed at full speed on cars. That is why, comparing the development and modification of existing internal combustion engines, Audi decided to suspend the development of new units. Nevertheless, according to various sources, the manufacturer did not abandon the development of new electric motors that ideally fit the requirements of the Euro 7 standard.

Today, Audi's lineup includes two all-electric models: the e-tron crossover and the modern e-tron GT sedan. In the near future, they plan to present an all-electric crossover Audi Q4. In addition, closer to 2035, the manufacturer plans to produce only electric cars, abandoning internal combustion engines.
