In December 2016, the Japanese brand Suzuki first demonstrated the updated fourth generation of the Swift subcompact hatchback, and in the fall of next year, the world community got acquainted with a special "hot" modification of the Suzuki Swift Sport.

The world premiere of the novelty took place within the framework of the annual automobile exhibition in Frankfurt, however, the basic information about the model appeared a week before the opening of the exhibition.

In comparison with the standard version of the Swift, the charged hatchback received a number of visual innovations, a more elegant interior and a more powerful engine borrowed from the Vitara S crossover. Running a little ahead, we want to note that the car turned out to be very interesting, especially given its relatively low cost. However, first things first.

Appearance of Suzuki Swift Sport

When visually comparing a regular and a "hot" Suzuki Swift, the presence of a more aggressive front end immediately catches the eye, which was achieved due to a modified front bumper, a more powerful false radiator grille, as well as a sports splitter and enlarged sections for fog lights. The hood and frowned head optics remained unchanged.

The number of changes that the hatchback profile received is minimal - the manufacturer only installed black door sills. All other branded elements, including lean sidewalls, a "floating" roof, hidden in the pillars of the rear door handles and short overhangs, remained unchanged.

Suzuki Swift Sport Feed received a different rear bumper with a built-in pseudo-diffuser and two exhaust pipes, which "loudly" declare the "charged" character of the novelty.

Special attention should be paid to light-alloy wheels R17, which received a special unique five-spoke design.

External dimensions remain the same:

  • Length - 3.84 m;
  • Width - 1.735 m;
  • Height - 1,495 m.

Like the standard Swift, the length of the wheelbase of the novelty is 2.45 m, and the ground clearance is 120 mm.
A pleasant moment was the fact that the "sports version" of Swift received an impressive set of body colors, including several unique colors, with which the car will definitely not be able to get lost in the city traffic.

Salon of the new Swift Sport

The interior of the new Suzuki Swift Sport meets with a laconic and well-thought-out architecture of the front panel, which, in comparison with the usual version of the hatchback, has received special decorative inserts in red and burgundy, which will not allow you to forget about the more cocky character of the new item.

Driver's seat represented by a comfortable cross-section and sporty-cut from the bottom of the steering wheel, which allows you to control the audio system and the main functions of the car, as well as a strict and easily readable instrument cluster, represented by two large dials and a liquid crystal display of the on-board computer located between them.

The central part of the dashboard is slightly turned towards the driver, and its main element is a 7-inch screen of the multimedia and entertainment center. Above the multimedia center, the manufacturer placed a pair of large air duct deflectors, and under it - three functional washers for controlling the cabin climate.

Another element that distinguishes the standard Swift from the charged one is the metal pedal pads, special sports seats with well-developed lateral support and integrated headrests.

Thanks to good thought out and verified ergonomics, it will be arranged in front seats a person of any build and height can easily. Between the front seats is the transmission tunnel, which houses a pair of cupholders, a parking brake handbrake and a gearshift knob.

Rear sofa if necessary, it is able to take on board three riders, but only two adults can sit here really comfortably.

Trunk volume, depending on the location of the backs of the rear sofa, can vary between 265-579 liters, which is quite consistent with competitors. Among the advantages of the luggage compartment, one can single out a loading opening close to the ideal, as well as the presence of a spare wheel and a repair kit under the raised floor.

Specifications Suzuki Swift Sport 2018

Recall that the usual Suzuki Swift is aggregated with one of two gasoline engines, 1 and 1.2 liters and 111 and 90 hp. respectively. But on the charged version of "Sport" the manufacturer has installed a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine Boosterjet, capable of developing a maximum of 140 "horses" and 230 Nm of peak torque, available in the range of 2.5-3.5 thousand rpm.

Unfortunately, the company decided not to announce the time required to accelerate from 0 to 100, limiting itself to information about fuel consumption, which in the case of a manual transmission is 6.1 l / 100 km, and in the case of choosing an automatic transmission - 6.2 l / 100 km in combined driving mode.

For comparison, an ordinary Swift, regardless of the power of the power unit, consumes an average of about 3.5-5 liters of fuel. The maximum speed is also not announced, however, the manufacturer did the same last time, when it presented a regular version of the fourth generation Suzuki Swift.

Despite rumors, the hot hatch is equipped exclusively with front-wheel drive. Suzuki Swift Sport is based on the proprietary platform "Heartect", in the production of which special bent arcs of the power frame were used, made of ultra-strong grades of steel. Thanks to the use of this platform, the designers managed to reduce the total weight of the car with a manual gearbox to 970 kg and with an “automatic” - to 990 kg.

At the presentation of the charged hatchback, the manufacturer did not say anything about the changes in the suspension of the novelty, which means that it can be assumed that it fully corresponds to the usual Swift - the front is independent with MacPherson struts, and the rear is semi-independent with a torsion beam.

The steering is complemented by an electric booster, and the braking system is represented by disc brakes on all wheels (with ventilation on the front axle).

Safety of the new Suzuki Swift Sport

In terms of safety, the new product is a complete analogue of the standard fourth generation Suzuki Swift, which received the following set of systems:

  • ABS system;
  • A system that prevents the car from slipping;
  • System of exchange rate stability, as well as electronic distribution of braking force;
  • Front and side airbags;
  • Front camera with laser radar, thanks to which the adaptive cruise control system functions;
  • Tracking technology of road markings and information about leaving a given lane;
  • Adaptive head lighting optics;
  • Intelligent system for recognizing a possible head-on collision, which can automatically activate the emergency deceleration system;
  • Seat belts with a three-point fixation system;
  • Fasteners for the installation of ISOFIX child seats;
  • LED daytime running lights;
  • Fog lights;
  • All-round visibility camera and much more.

An additional criterion that increases the level of passenger protection is the presence of programmed crumple zones designed to reduce the force of impact during frontal and side collisions. Thus, despite its sporty focus, the hatchback is quite capable of playing the role of a car for the whole family.

Configuration options and price of Suzuki Swift Sport 2018

Official sales of the Suzuki Swift Sport 2018 in Japan started back in September 2017, while in order to become the owner of the novelty, a potential buyer must part with at least $ 16.7 thousand (equivalent to 965.1 thousand rubles).

It is also worth noting that the start of sales in the European market is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2018, but there is no reason to expect the appearance of a hot hatch in Russia.

The standard version of the "charged" Swift Sport is equipped with the following options:

  • Six airbags (including curtain airbags);
  • Automatic climate control;
  • Multimedia center with a 7-inch monitor, support for synchronization with a smartphone, Bluetooth and 6 speakers;

In addition, the Swift Sport arsenal includes an impressive set of equipment, an aggressive look, a fairly roomy interior and trunk, as well as a productive filling, which, although inferior to direct competitors, is also capable of giving a lot of driving pleasure.
